On August 24, 2023, VANOMA hosted Aria Marie Hill, MArch II Candidate at Harvard GSD, Virginia Tech Alumna, and NOMAS leader. Aria was the first Diversity Advancement Internship & Scholarship Program recipient at Work Program Architects (a VANOMA sponsor) as well as a TEDxVirginiaTech speaker on "Changing the Face of Architecture." Aria is also a co-founder of the firm, The Garden. Needless to say, Aria is a force of nature! She continuously pushes the boundaries and preconceived notions for what is possible for women in STEM and Black women in Architecture.

Courageous Leadership is standing in the face of your trials and tribulations. It does not necessarily mean that you are the strongest or even the most resilient. It is the act of knowing yourself and what you value. For me, I know that I am a fierce believer in service of others. Celebrating Aria Marie Hill
Aria Hill is a designer, creative director, and founder of The Garden, a multidisciplinary, experimental practice. She is a Master of Architecture Candidate at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Here, she is studying Caribbean liberatory imaginaries using historic military infrastructures, the role of the post-digital, representation, and cultural computation. She holds a BArch, Cum Laude, and a BS in Mathematics, Cum Laude. Previously, her work has been internationally recognized by institutions including the New York Review of Architecture, AIA Virginia, Architectural League NY, and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
Authentic and functioning interest in anti-racist and decolonization work of all mediums will forever be on my list of attractive qualities that an office can possess. I seek opportunities in which the team members will promote discourse. ARIA MARIE HILL
