Kenneth Martin, AIA, NOMAC is an architect and the founding principal of the OBSIDIAN Group, since 1991. His firm, once having four offices along the eastern US, concentrates on school projects, higher education projects, religious facilities and pharmaceutical projects. He received his architecture degree from the City College of NY, attended Georgia Institute of Technology in pursuit of a Master of City Planning degree and received a Bachelors in Business Administration degree from Furman University/Nazareth College. Kenneth is a former national president of NOMA, was a state president of NCNOMA which received the national award for Most Improved Chapter and is the founding president of VANOMA. He is an emeritus member of the AIA and served on the national Diversity and Inclusion Council. He is also a former Town Councilman of Holly Springs, NC and is the current VP of Nu Lambda, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. chapter in Petersburg, Virginia. As of April 2022, Kenneth officially stepped down as President. Our chapter thanks Kenneth for all the great work, service, and leadership that he has provided VANOMA since 2020, and wishes him well on all his future endeavors upon his return to North Carolina in May 2022.
