Ian Vaughan

My grandparents were educators who had a positive impact on the people of their communities. They inspired me to use my chosen profession of architecture to impact my surroundings.
Ian Vaughan, AIA, NOMA was born and raised in Charlottesville, VA. He is a 2007 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Architecture and is a licensed architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is an architect for Clark Nexsen in Northern Virginia and his work experience spans more than 15 years in both the private and public sector. Ian served on the Downtown Design Committee for the City of Portsmouth from 2012 - 2022. In 2018, Ian was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Art and Architectural Review Board for the Commonwealth of Virginia, where he served as an adivsory board member until June 2022. Outside of work, Ian is also involved with VANOMA, Preservation Virginia, AIA Young Architects Forum and the AIA Virginia's Emerging Leaders in Architecture Honors Academy.
